The Streetdata Team has developed sophisticated SMS competition technology using Australia's favourite communication tool, the mobile phone.

NO UNSOLICITED MESSAGES SENT AS THE MOBILE PHONE USERS REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION.

Competition Outline:

  • Competitors register their mobile number to receive competition questions
  • Questions are transmitted to the registered numbers
  • Competitors reply with answers to the competition questions
  • Results are compiled
  • Competitors are advised of their performance
  • Winners are announced

A customized web-based interface that loaded multiple questions and competition rules was provided. Competition results were automatically compiled and downloaded to a spreadsheet. Access to the competition interface was by way of a secure interface that utilised industry standard encryption technologies. (Streetdata maintains an industry standard security over its network and network devices.)

This technology was successfully used at the V8 SuperCar meetings during 2001. The client company's aim was to increase their website hit rate, as participant of the 2-way SMS competition logged into the client web site the next day to view the results. This was achieved spectacularly with the Client website hit rate increasing by 400%.
